This is an original painting in oils.
It is painted on canvas stretched over a 4cm deep wooden frame. The artwork size is 16” x 20” (approximately 40cm x 50cm).

Birds & Animals Series of Paintings
This series of bird paintings are in oils, painted using a reductive technique, starting with painting the whole canvas with a thin layer of dark brown oil paint. The lighter-tones and details are then subtracted out using rags and silicone brushes. When this is dry, colour is added using transparent oil paint, keeping initial values and detail from the layer beneath. The brightest highlights and touches of vibrant colour are then added when the transparent layer is dry.
When dry the painting is finished with a wax varnish, resulting in an even satin sheen.
